Scoring Philosophy: First, the process that we used is only one of many ways that the scoring could have been done (click here for a description), and we fully recognize that there are additional methodologies that could have been employed. Second, our goal is to encourage more research, not less, and we hope that researchers will use these evaluations to design new experiments aimed at strengthening the evidence associating each gene with ASD. Finally, in the future, we plan to incorporate a community-based ranking component into the Gene Scoring module that will allow individuals to make and download their own personalized, ranked gene list(s).
