Careers at MindSpec
MindSpec is a research organization that creates and analyzes bioinformatics tools for neurodevelopmental disorders. We approach our research with an interdisciplinary focus, developing interactive databases for diverse fields such as genomics, behavior, biochemistry, brain imaging, and environmental influences. We seek talented and motivated individuals to join our research team.
Training Philosophy
MindSpec is dedicated to mentoring young scientists. Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to become independent researchers by developing distinct research projects, applying for grants, presenting at conferences, and writing research articles. In addition, MindSpec offers a career development track which advances postdoctoral fellows to independent Research Associates after two years.
Current Openings:
Summer Interns
These summer positions are for undergraduates to gain research experience in the rapidly changing field of bioinformatics/systems biology. Research projects will be focused on autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders but offer a variety of opportunities such as annotation, data mining, statistical analysis, database development, or Wiki formatting. Applicants should either be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or have received their bachelor.s degree within the past year. Candidates should have background in Genetics and/or Neurobiology, with experience in Bioinformatics highly desired.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
Candidates should have expertise in Human Genetics using array-based technologies. Knowledge of statistics to conduct meta- analysis, and knowledge of Bioinformatics/ Molecular biology/ Neurobiology is highly desirable. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct assignments on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Part-Time Annotators
These positions offer an opportunity to work in the rapidly evolving area of multi-factorial disease biology in a flexible, dynamic research environment. Responsibilities include annotation of disease-related information for data mining and visualization. Applicants should have M.S / Ph.D. or equivalent with research experience in Neurobiology / Animal Models / Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. It would be an asset if the candidates also have experience in any of the following area: microarray analysis, gene ontology analysis using Bioconductor.
